Redshirt Year
# Redshirt Year
A term borrowed from athletics, a redshirt year is a year during a young athlete’s life that they may wear the jersey of the team they’ve been drafted to (though the jersey must have no number), and attend all the practices and perhaps participate in a few select games, such that they may get used to the demands of professional athletics before beginning their career in earnest.
It is a grace period for Deliberate Practice.
